i’ll throw this under the readmore about me being conflicted about the idea, which the muses had bugged me about it over the weekend. also readmore due to my nonsense ramblings. 🤪

also, this is something for a certain cipher nine oc of mines and my verse’s two characters. feel free to ignore.

So, my muses decided to hit me with the biggest what if idea and it started with “what happened if Aris had a child with Jadus through difficult circumstances” and at first I was like, “oh no, I’m not sure the timing would be right or how long did chapter 1 lasted for, muses.”

this is probably because the idea came to me inspired by a simblr’s 18+ story I read.

and now, I am undecided over this idea and my good friend, Maczac, said the idea could be interesting and “combine with Aris having a child (with Jadus) creates extra dramas“. I decided to brainstorm on this further over the weekend:

We know that seduction and s*xual activities are all apart of Intelligence field works. Of course, this situation between Aris and Jadus was very complicated because Jadus was drawn to Aris (and completely in love with her), and Aris was no stranger to sleeping with other women before, So, basically to Aris, it was either face punishments or caught up in a web of lust against her better judgements.

Again, a very complicated situation considering Aris’ line of work and Jadus being a powerful Sith Lord.

Fast forward post-Eradication Day and the engagement announcement, Aris would discover she was carrying Jadus’ child after Vowrawn noticed the signs (through his trans pregnancy experience) questioning her health. Though, Aris was completely unaware for months despite claiming the sickness caused by poor food rations.

This would had meant she had a cryptic pregnancy. Again, completely unaware but was discovered by Vowrawn during 20-30 weeks.

To add on this, Jadus did not know about this either.

Vowrawn and Kritanta would be extremely protective over Aris and the unborn child, neither of them would leave her side should one of them needed to attend a meeting.

Kritanta (Aris’ father) informed Darth Marr about the development and they were both shocked and surprised by this. This does not affect the engagement as both Aris and Marr are still adamant on going ahead with the arranged marriage as planned.

Marr had dealt with kids before. So they talked to Aris about the development, nothing will change between the two of them. Marr asked about how would she feel if they were to be named as the parent to her child (aka adoption), Aris agreed because it would be a safer option.

Aris gave birth to her daughter sometime after the wedding. Named her Naomi. Kritanta and Vowrawn are grandparents. Acina as Great-Auntie. Vaylin is the Auntie. Also, Auntie Lana Beniko. Malora get an adoptive sister. Marr as the parent to share joint custody with Aris.

Aris’ child would be 100% safe within Marr’s care when Aris leaves for undercover work. also, likely to be raised within the Nevrakis’ estate on Ziost.

Should I go with this... I think chapter 2 would set a few years after chapter 1 because I really do not like how toddlers look in the sims 4--I had a couple of ccs for children (which I had gotten for my oc Roxie in different fandom) so that’s easier for me. Plus, to give Jazz and Tau the time to grow and develop as Jedi Knight going on Jedi Master together. I think this would sense to spend a few years to achieve Jedi Master rank rather than too soon.

Anyways, there’s that and I’m undecided on this particular arc. So I don’t know... ugh, muses why you gotta do this to me?! edit: suddenly realised that my oc Roxie and Naomi would have something in common regarding the parental lineage.

Marvel Descendants OCs

Acknowledgment: When Marvel Descendants was first written in 2015, one year after I joined Tumblr, at the time I wasn’t aware of how bad certain things were and while I am aware this is a bad excuse for what I’m about to acknowledge, it’s all I have really for what I wrote into Marvel Descendants at 14-15 as back then, I was into DC’s Kingdom Come and when I saw them ship Nightstar and Ibn al Xu'ffasch (pre-Damien Wayne), I didn’t see anything wrong with it and as a result, used the adopted family excuse for shipping Locket Lokidottir and Theo Thorson. Now that I am older and know more over the years, I wish I had known back then, but I wasn’t deep into Tumblr until December 2014 and even then, it took me until a while back to realize Marvel Descendants was wrong for that, but by that point, book 5 confirming the ship two married in the future, was out and while its too late to fix canon, I try to fix it in AUs and ship the two with other characters.  Any other issues within Marvel Descendants, I am trying to fix and hope to avoid in the future as I continue writing. 

Description of Marvel Descendants: Marvel Descendants is a marvel version of Disney Descendants that follows The Isle of the Lost, Descendants 1 and Wicked Wold in first two books and mini-spin off and goes on its own plot in book 3, with it now being tied @disneyfan50​ ‘s series, Descendant of Loki, starting from the team up/crossover, Daughters of The Trickster, with the series continuing on right now with planned future installments and AUs. 

Timeline so far: 

Book 1: The Area of The Lost. Summary:  Twenty years ago, all villains from Loki to Doctor doom were sent to the lost part of asgard with a shield around it to keep them there and them from ever escaping. The villains and their children now live in total isolation, forgotten by the world. But now there is a price for grabs, Loki's sceptre, could be their chance of escape, but they have to prove their more then willing to do anything evil to get hold of it. They had left their speeders nearby so Malora could set up some kind of ambush, she tried her best to remain calm and collected she couldn’t let her anger overtake her now or she’d make a mistake like she did on Yavin IV. She looked to her left and right, Ashara and Malora stood ready there seemed to be some tension between them but they at least both looked ready.

Ashara broke the silence “are you sure these things will work, what if they don’t go off” Ashara had been skeptical of this plan but it was better than trying to catch them on speeders

Malora scoffed “I’m sure don’t question it just because you don’t understand Jedi, even if the sensors don’t cause the trap to go off I can do it manually” Kyradia could sense the tension but she wasn’t gonna be the one to diffuse it there was more at stake right now.

But then she sensed something she spotted two dots on the horizon “shush they’re close” she watched as the dots slowly got bigger she didn’t take her eyes off them for a single second. Soon they were barreling towards her and she could sense Zash’s presence, she smiled she couldn’t run forever. 

Her hand went to her saberstaff as they came into range of the traps, two plumes of sand erupted and she watched as the speeders skidded and the form of the Mirilian tumbled out of the sand onto the ground. She frowned where was Zash? A second later a figure dropped down next to Terri unscathed by the attack and snarling at them, Zash loosened up as she whispered to Terri but not taking her eyes off Kyradia. 

Kyradia gritted her teeth as she ignited her saber, seconds later Zash’s sabers shot to life and she lunged forward towards Kyradia it was time to fight

Zash jumped across the distance between them and slammed down with her sabers against Kyradia’s staff “well well well Kyradia I thought I sensed an afterthought” she turned to look to Malora “and look you’ve picked up a stray, here for your experiment I bet how terribly boring” Malora snarled dashing forward trying to cleave into Zash’s stomach. But Zash saw it coming immediately and blocked it with her yellow saber, Kyradia and Malora began to each try to break Zash’s defense but neither could get past her blocking.

Malora hissed “I’m here for what’s mine, don’t think I’ll be so easily beaten” Kyradia could see out the corner of her eye as Ashara tried to help them but was blocked by the Mirilian, looks like this was going to be a sith exclusive at least for the time being.

Zash chuckled “my dear the bar isn’t exactly high” she parried Malora’s attack before a sudden jolt of electricity sent her flying backwards. Zash smiled turning back to Kyradia “now that your new toy is out the way I suppose I’ll have to teach you another lesson apprentice” Kyradia could feel the anger build up inside her as she fought one of her oldest enemies

Kyradia snarled “I wouldn’t bet on it Zash you got lucky” Kyradia pushed her saber forward againsts Zash’s causing her to lose her balance for a second, Kyradia brought her saber up hoping to capitalize but Zash suddenly jumped rolling just out the way of her saber and landing crouched with a smile.

Zash continued to taunt as she stalked her target “I haven’t heard from you in a while apprentice, too scared I may find out more about your past” Kyradia tried her best to hide the worry the snarl ever present on her face. 

Kyradia could see Terri and Ashara had continued to fight doing her best to disarm the Mirilian “please listen to me why are you helping her” Ashara had more faith in the innocence act from the girl than Kyradia did

Terri pushed her back with the force “I could ask you the same question the commander is a ruthless killer don’t lecture me on helping sith” Kyradia knew Terri had a point but she had to focus on the monster in front of her for now

Kyradia responded to Zash “you’re being played, you either lose to me or you lose to the sisters but I want the satisfaction of you losing to me” Kyradia threw her saber out as a distraction as Zash went to parry it Kyradia channeled all her anger and flung Zash towards her getting ready to kick her in the stomach

But Zash was ready to turn herself around as she flew towards Kyradia using the force of Kyradia’s kick to propel herself over her, she landed and went to stab at Kyradia. Kyradia dodged out the way trying to pull her saber back to her hand as Zash responded “you think I don’t know they’re playing me Kyradia of course I have my own plan for that, this body isn’t my only contingency apprentice” the stabs were getting closer and closer and Kyradia felt something stopping her from being able to pick it up “I’m not letting you block your way out of this one apprentice this loose end should’ve been tied up a long time ago” she lunged forward to try and stab Kyradia but a flash of red flung into Kyradias view blocking the attack.

Kyradia looked to see Malora slide in front of her picking back up her saber “find your saber Commander we’ll need both of us to defeat her” Kyradia felt Malora push her back blocking the strikes from Zash 

Zash snarled “oh please you think you can stop me scientist” she begun a barrage of strikes at Malora it was clear Malora couldn’t land a hit on her and was merely stalling, Kyradia scrambled to find her saber which had been left far away past Terri and Ashara

They seemed fairly evenly matched neither having made headway on the other, Kyradia rushed past rolling to pick up her saber as Zash and Malora continued “you’d be surprised Zash I’m not so clueless anymore and it’s time to exterminate a fossil” Malora activated some kind of gadget grabbing Zash’s arm and shocking her

Zash shrieked in pain but the shrieks soon turned into a cackle as the electricity focussed into her palm “oh wrong move scientist, it’s a shame you would’ve been so much more competent under my tutelage” she let out an intense burst of lightning which sent Malora flying back into the sand.

She started to breath heavily looking around extremely panicked, grasping at her neck Kyradia didn’t understand why but she was in trouble, she shouted to Ashara “Ashara!!! Malora’s in trouble” Ashara nodded as Kyradia focussed with the force holding Terri in place while Ashara ran towards Zash as she closed in on Malora.

Quickly Ashara ran into Zash’s path pushing her back with the force, Zash kept moving forward admittedly slower “ah well well well the little apprentice we manipulated is still around following orders” Kyradia could see Ashara struggling and began to run back towards them

But before she could the Mirilian stood in front of her “NO s-stop” she didn’t seemed very confident but it’d still slow her down

Kyradia stood tall “get out of my way kid you don’t understand what you’re doing” Terri didn’t budge a new wave of anger coming over her face. 

Terri held her lightsaber ready “I understand that you don't give people a second chance, that you kill people who disobey you and that you won’t stop until you have revenge. That you’re cruel and allowed and endorsed a corrupt system for your own selfish reasons and I understand that’s not someone I want to let by” she lunged forward with a new found anger catching Kyradia by surprise deflecting a series of impassioned strikes

Behind them Ashara also stood ready “you don’t scare me Zash we defeated you before we can again” Zash seemed amused by the statement getting closer and closer

Zash smiled “oh honey you show such devotion to someone who uses you maybe you should’ve been my apprentice you’d fit right in” Ashara shuddered at the statement but stood ready while Zash lunged at her hitting her with strike after strike

Ashara tried her best to keep it up but was falling back “She’s not using me!!! Not anymore and you can’t manipulate me no one can not anymore” her strikes continued and just before she was overpowered Malora’s saber came into view blocking her red saber pushing Zash back.

Zash snarled at each of them “fighting you apprentices is beneath me I’m done playing with my food” an intense blast of force energy pushed them both back as she swung her sabers forward

Kyradia could see that Zash would overpower them soon she didn’t have time for this girl time to appeal to her innocent side “look I’ll be honest you may be right I’m cruel, self serving and short tempered but i‘m trying to be better, I can admit my flaws ,but can Zash?” Terri seemed confused for a second and in that second Kyradia took the opportunity to hit her in the face with her saber causing her to fall back to the ground.

Kyradia couldn’t take a minute though as she saw Zash starting to overpower Ashara and Malora, she sprinted up the hill and threw her saber towards Zash. Malora seemed to take note of this and activated another gadget spraying acid, Kyradia heard a scream but once again she seemed to take that pain and manipulate it.

Zash snarled “how dare you this form is brand new, you’re no-” before she finished however she felt Kyradia’s saber embed itself in her should causing her to shriek out in immense pain, it was the first clean hit anyone had got on Zash and the fury was clear.

Kyradia pulled her saber out as Zash stumbled but when Kyradia arrived next to Zash she vanished striding away, Kyradia looked around her and noticed a phantom like shape she was very familiar with circling them. 

Electricity started to pulsate creating a wall of dark shadow energy, the lightning itself surrounding the three of them, Kyradia gasped she’d never thought this possible she had to protect them or they’d all be fried to a crisp. 

What could she do though shields weren’t her thing she turned to Ashara “Ashara!! We need a shield now how do we do that” she looked as confused as Kyradia

Ashara considered it “I um I guess just clear your mind and reach out” she frowned “and maybe hold hands to channel our power” Malora and Kyradia both scoffed but as the column of shadow encircled them they were willing to try anything.

They joined hands and focussed, Kyradia tried her best but she was furious Zash would get away she knew it but it was either protect themselves or die. She tried her best to let go of the pain and think of something calm, something innocent before Zash, her mind drifted to home but not when she was a teenager before all that happened with her family if she could really call just a brother that. She felt her eyes well up, she missed that more than she realised she shook off the feeling and when she opened her eyes she saw that the lightning was sparking off a very small shield around the three of them. She smiled it had worked at least somewhat she just hoped it was enough.

She looked out to see if she could spot Zash but she could already hear the sound of a speeder startup and as the column of shadow dissipated he speeder with Zash and her apprentice was shooting off towards the nearby ridge

Malora cursed to herself “we have to follow them now they can’t get away!!!” she sliced at the ground with her saber her features looking more savage than normal as she let out a furious growl

Ashara gasped “uh that might be tricky” she pointed to where their speeders had been but now all they could see was piles of scrap where the speeders had been

Kyradia gritted her teeth “great so not only did she escape again but now we’re stuck in the desert” this situation had gone from bad to worse…

Terri awoke suddenly feeling the wind on her hair she looked up realising she was in the cave they’d parked the ship in, she realised she was being carried. She tapped on Zash’s shoulder “um I’m awake you can put me down” Zash nodded setting her down “what happened Zash I thought we were fighting the Commander” Zash turned to face her causing Terri to shriek noticing she had a rather bad acid burn on the right side of her face as well as a stab wound in her shoulder she was nursing as she walked

Zash snarled “what happened is you got tricked by that bitch Kyradia and as a result I had to fight them all off” she winced in great pain as Terri slowly watched the burn heal itself up once again resembling Lusari’s face “I am extremely weak because of all the energy I used today, fly us out of here quickly to make up for it” Terri had never heard Zash so harsh before but she guessed getting such an injury would make you angry. Still it wasn’t her fault right? she paused realising it was, the Commander had acted like they were changing their ways just so she could get past Terri.

They made their way back onto the ship “sorry Zash I’m just a little too trusting” Zash seemed to be returning to her normal self as they returned to the cockpit much less angry and understanding

Zash shook her head “from now on Terri don’t trust what anyone says but me, you’ve seen first hand how people will try to trick you, so never trust anyone you even slightly doubt ok after all next time we may not be so lucky.” Terri nodded, maybe that was a better rule she didn’t want to get Zash hurt after all but did she trust Zash beyond a shadow of a doubt? She had to right? for Lusari, still she’d not admit her mistakes like the commander...

After all this waiting, we finally know what the new gala is gonna be like, and it wasn’t exactly what I was expecting in a whole bunch of ways, lmao. But I’m still extremely excited for it.

Since i’ve been saving for this ever since the Gala Alex banner ended, I’m currently sitting on a grand total of 600 summons, so let’s just hope I can get what I want with that.

So firstly we now officially know about Gala Leif being a thing, and man was that a roller-coaster of emotions for me. Mostly I’m just happy he’s finally coming out, but I’m still feeling extremely iffy about him being a wind sword, both because Gala Ranzal already exists, and also because I don’t even do eCiella in co-op anymore. But on the other hand, I’m also feeling kinda smug about correctly guessing that he’s be a support unit with two stances, though that probably wasn’t the hardest thing to guess, lol. But even then, his kit just looks . . . kinda strange. I really think I’ll need to hold back on making any judgments about it one way or another until we get his SP costs and damage mods, since that might really make or break him. His abilities also don’t say anything about his stance mechanic, so there might be additional things it does beyond just changing what his skills do.

On paper I think he just looks odd because the strength and defense debuffs don’t really seem that potent, and his S1 defense buff is self-only, which seems like it wouldn’t really be that great in eCiella anyway, and it wouldn’t be able to trigger doublebuff on everyone. Which is weird since he also has a strength doublebuff chain co-ab, with no apparent way to trigger it for the entire team by himself.

And since he doesn’t seem to give team-wide defense buffs, I’m honestly not sure if he’d actually be able to replace T-Hope’s role in eCiella, but for manual play that might not be a huge deal. He also doesn’t seem to have any heals or buff dispel, so he probably won’t also be replacing Lowen or OG Ranzal. And Sylas provides more potent buffs and debuffs. So I’m worried that Gala Leif might just not be able to find a place in the meta, but we’ll see how it goes. Since he has two attacking skills depending on what stance he’s in, he might be a good DPS unit, if nothing else. Which might also go with his Flurry Strength passive, which seems like a really weird ability to give to what seems like a support unit.

His unique debuff punisher co-ab and his debuff skill time ability are also really interesting, but I’m not sure how that’ll work out.

I just think there’s a big possibility that there’s additional mechanics to his kit that aren’t clear just from reading his skills and abilities, so we’ll have towait and see how he goes in practice. It’s entirely possible that he’s like Tobias, and being in his shielding stance lets him attack from range.

I’m still gonna immediately summon for him anyway and if I end up regretting that then that’ll by my problem, lmao. I’ve waited too long for this dude not to chase him.

They’re also putting the upcoming banner units on the gala, which is . . . extremely weird but also really cool. Considering that stuff like this doesn’t lead to anyone having lower than normal appearance rates, this just means that when I chase after Gala Leif I’ll have a good chance at getting some of these units too. Which would be nice, since I was already thinking that they might really tempt me.

It’s also just kinda funny that after finding out about the Xuan Zang alt I got worried that she’d be the new gala unit, which I knew wasn’t gonna happen, but then she ended up actually being on the gala banner anyway even if she’s not the gala unit, lol.

I hope this becomes a trend going forward, since it’d be a great way to give me a shot at non-limited banner units even if I just save for galas exclusively.

Anyway, these new units are the new batch of non-limited light units we’ve been desperately needing, and they look really nice. They still suffer from the fact that there’s no important fights to actually use them in until the shadow Agito boss comes out in like three months, but at least we can use them in this event.

I honestly couldn’t tell what weapon type the Xuan Zang alt was meant to be since she uses a unique weapon model in her boss battle, and she also dies way too fast for me to see her animations, so it’s nice to get confirmation that she’s a wand unit.

In general, Radiant Xuan Zang basically looks like a more tanky version of Peony, which is really interesting. I wonder if anyone will feel bad for summoning for Peony, lol. I think they’re different enough that it doesn’t matter, but they’re still really similar in a lot of ways.

Even though her DPS might not be as high as Peony’s, I do really like how Xuan Zang’s new kit looks. Her S1 strength debuff reminds me a lot of Sylas’, and she also has a shadow resistance buff on her S2. So if that sort of damage mitigation is good in the shadow Agito fight, that’d be really nice. She can also inspire the entire team with her enhanced S2, which seems to effect the entire team and not just people she’s near, so that might have a surprisingly big impact on her team DPS contribution. I think this also makes her the first light unit with inspiration, which is cool.

She also gets the new debuff skill time ability like Gala Leif does, which is cool. I guess that’ll probably be given to new units every once in a while now. The fact that it also covers bleed is really interesting, especially since there’s currently no way to have it apply to anyone who actually inflicts bleed, so maybe they’re laying the foundation for that to happen later. And since we have buff time prints, maybe we’ll get debuff time prints, which could be really useful on certain characters.

One thing that I think is really interesting is that when she maxes her charge gauge, she can lower an enemy’s paralysis resistance level. It sounds like a one-time, permanent effect, but it might have a real impact on team DPS if you rely on paralysis punishing, since this should effectively prolong the amount of uptime you can have on paralysis. It also opens up the possibility of other characters in other elements getting this sort of ability for other status effects, which could really increase the viability of certain units, especially if we get someone who can do this sort of thing for something like bog or blind resistance.

Other than how much she seems to be competing with Peony, my main worry with her is probably that her charge gauge mechanic might hold her back, and lead to her having low uptime on stuff like the strength buff it lets her give the team. Not to mention the fact that it’s an AoE buff effect, not a universal team one, so you might not be able to give it to everyone. It sounds like the amount her charge gauge gets boosted depends on how many teammates are within her AoE field when she uses her S2, so her potential seems to really depend on whether or not everyone’s grouped close to each other.

I honestly wasn’t super interested in her when we first saw her, but the fact that she’ll be on the same banner as Gala Leif makes me a lot more interested in picking her up, and I do really like how her kit looks. I already have Chitose, but I didn’t get Peony, so Xuan Zang might be worth getting. I also just appreciate that she’s effectively a non-limited light strength buff unit, which the element’s really needed for a long time now. It’s not quite as straight-forward as how Chitose’s buffs work, but it’s something.

I also just honestly really like her as a character, and like with Wu Kong I have a lot of nostalgia toward her because her event was the first one I actually got into when I started playing the game. I never really use her welfare version, so it’d be great to be able to use her alt.

Though even more than her, as soon as I saw Zhu Bajie and it became obvious he was gonna be a banner unit, I got really tempted to chase him, lol. Which is another reason why i’m glad that these units are getting bundled into the same banner as Leif. I don’t really need any light units any time soon in general, but I still really want him, and it’d be nice to not have to dream summon him.

In terms of his kit, I don’t really like enmity units in general, but he does look really strong on paper. We’ll have to see his exact damage mods, but the fact that he can manually lower his health while also having Resilient Offense seems like a really good combo. Sadly the shield he gets is just a regular shield like Natalie’s, but it does it’s job. It’s interesting that his S2 also makes it so that he can’t be healed for ten seconds. I’m not sure if that actually works well with his kit or not, since on the one hand he wants to stay at low health as much as possible, but he also needs to dip in and out of low HP to trigger Resilient Offense. He also has a unique force-strike via his ability that has a multi-step charge like the MH units, which gives him knockback res and has paralysis punisher mods. 

Light doesn’t really have the sort of support for enmity kits that shadow does via Grace’s shield utility, but I think he has a lot of potential to be a really good DPS unit, and honestly light really needs more of that, in terms of non-limited units. It’s also nice that he’s an axe, since I didn’t get DY-Malora, and I don’t use S-Luca anymore now that I have G-Luca.

It’s probably worth noting that even though there’s not currently someone like Grace for light, Xuan Zang has her strength debuffs and her team shadow res buffs that should help make Zhu Bajie a lot more tanky if you use them together.

And then there’s the wildcard in the form of Sha Wujing, who isn’t actually described in the blog post they put out because he’s a 4-star. Which is kinda lame, but considering that they’re bundling this with Gala Leif AND also including a new 5-star dragon, I get why they relegated him to being a 4-star.

But either way, he might be a really interesting unit. There’s nothing to go on, but him being a 4-star isn’t an automatic strike against the idea of him being really good. There’s just lots of different things they could do with him.

Basically my main two options I’m thinking about at the moment are in effectively being a light version of Emma, or a light version of Heinwald. It’d be great to get a dedicated, non-limited light strength buffer, but Xuan Zang can kinda do that too, and I’m not really sure if him being a lance unit or something with strength buffs really ‘fits’ his whole vibe. But on the other hand, I really like the idea of him being sort of like Heinwald but for light. It’s been over a year since our last light healer came out, so it’d be really nice to get another one. And tbh as a character he really reminds me of Heinwald, so it’d make sense if they end up being similar units. But who knows.

And finally we’re also getting a new light dragon for this banner, who seems to basically just be light Freyja, except her dragon skill only energizes the team instead of also healing them. Which is a bit lame, but light already has Cupid who can heal everyone, so it’s not a big deal. Either way I’d really like to get a copy of her to use on my light support/healer units.

Interestingly it seems like they’re all still gonna appear on the next banner once the gala ends, but I think this is by far going to be the best time to get them, unless they intentionally increase their appearance rates for their banner or something. Being able to get all of them AND Gala Leif from the same banner is way too good of a deal to pass up.

Also this means that we’re not getting a split banner for this event [at least not in the same way we’ve had with recent events], so that’s great. We’re still probably gonna get more split banners in the future, but it’s nice to have all these units on one banner.

I should probably hold off on my summoning spree until we know how good the new units are [especially since Gala Leif looks like he might be underwhelming in practice], but I’ve been saving for two months for this, so I don’t think I’m gonna be able to restrain myself, lol. Depending on how long I summon for, I might have to actually keep notes of what I get so I can remember it all.

Realistically it might be best for me to just stop if/when I get Gala Leif and then save for the next gala, but with the event units being on the gala banner as well, they might tempt me to keep pulling. We’ll just see how it goes, I guess.

The Meeting (A Sakura x Malora Story ))

Authors note: My take on how Sakura and Malora first met, it’s not perfect but I tried my best and like I said it’s not perfect but I had fun with it none the less also some background on Sakura herself. Since I redid her whole origins and gave it some more concreteness.

The estate was fairly large, having few places to hide but no one paid much mind to the chocobo stables. A miqote sat among the horse birds watching her fellow free company members bustle about on their usual business. She liked it that way no one ever paid her much mind to often caught up in their own endeavors. “Where is that new girl..” a thought randomly came to the miqote as her ears twitched sensing something behind her but putting it to the back of her mind assuming one of the chocobos was just making a noise. There was a new member that had recently joined... the others were polite with their words but their eyes betrayed them. Their eyes showed signs of distrust and weariness and the stranger, the new girl seemed about as out casted as the miqote felt. “This is a odd place to hang out, don’t you think? You know I hear Miqote’s senses are sensitive..” A voice trailed from behind the miqote who sat hugging her knees, a hyur’s face dipped down in front of the miqote staring at her with pale sky blue eyes. “I prefer it here! and didn’t anyone teach you its rude to sneak up on someone!” pale red slits glared at the white haired hyur woman who stifled a giggle as she stood straight and skipped over in front of the cat woman that was clearly unamused with her. “Well yes but you looked lonely..” her voice seemed apologetic it made the cat’s ears lower almost in shame, least one could only assume. “Just forget it... what did you want anyways?” she mumbled before looking up to see a hand held out to her “Like I said you looked lonely, Malora, Malora Lyra, and you are?” there was a moment silence as the miqote hugged her knees closer as if to hide behind them, or they were a wall that separated her from Malora and her extended hand of what one could only assume was friendship. “Sakura... Sakura Foxtail” she finally said in a light tone, staring at the hand as if it was some foreign gesture or trick. “People usually aren’t nice me” she added before letting her knees go, as her legs straightened out she gently but cautiously took Mal’s hand, helping herself up with the hyur’s help. “Don’t think we’re friends!” she quickly added in a hiss which was only accompanied by the humans laughter. “Of course not.” there was a hint of sarcasm but the miqote hid her smile by letting her raven black hair fall over her face. Sakura led a pretty solitude life, she was a loner that was taken in by this estates company but the life here had never been easy she always felt alone, no one made any efforts to show her anything that dispelled the loneliness but this stranger... was different not that it made Sakura happy, or rather it did but also pissed her off. It made her feel conflicted she was so use to being alone and not bothered and people always went away in the end. No. To let this person in now would risk them to leave later, right? “It’s getting late, I should go!” Sakura exclaimed realizing she still had Mal’s hand and let it go stumbling clumsily away from Malora and into the medium sized house which sat on the free companies estate. Sakura had no room of her own or a home so she usually slept in the chocobo stables. After some time passed and Malora was out of sight the miqote snuck back outside and into the stables curling up by a beautiful blue chocobo. “Hi sweetie” she whispered in answer to the gentle “KWEH!” which was followed by a gentle peck on Sakura’s ears followed by a genuine giggle of happiness. Sakura cuddled into the feathers, a wing covering her like a blanket as she drifted off to sleep. They had been together for so long, if she had one friend only it was this chocobo. Malora had not been wrong her senses use to be sensitive but she’d grown use to conditions like this since her early childhood. Such example was dust from the many books her mother had owned. The next morning Sakura woke to two blue eyes staring at her and a smile, Mal was petting Azura the chocobo “Shes a really sweet chocobo, I found her protecting you like a newborn, hehe you must be close to her?” there was no answer but Sakura’s face was red as a tomato, did this girl not give up? “She’s very special..” is all Sakura muttered before escaping Azura’s wings and standing brushing off her fur, ears and tail. “She normally doesn’t let anyone find me though..” she glared at the bird that only answered with a happy kweh! as she was petted and pampered. “There a reason you invaded my privacy?” “Its a stable Sakura... kinda public.” she grinned “shut up!” Sakura’s cheeks were now red as a rolanberry. “Are you always this sassy?” “Sometimes, mostly to stubborn cats” Mal let out a giggle before smiling “Our ‘fearless’ leader asked for some fish from the river and I thought we could go together.” In truth Bon had asked Mal to go fishing as well as mining and gathering but Mal just had by luck been passing to hear the snoring kitty and came to investigate but did the details really matter? “Will you leave me alone, if I do?” “Promise a bard’s honor” Mal crossed her heart as she held out her hand... there it was again that feeling of hesitation, why did this human insist on this gesture. It was nice but Sakura would never admit it, not out loud least not yet her pride was something to hold on too. “Fine but in doing so you tell no one of this!” she took the humans hand it was soft and warm, it reminded her of her mother’s hand though the memory quickly faded as she lifted her self let go and dusted herself off quickly. “Lets get this over with..” she muttered at the girl who only stood smiling not once threw off by the cold shoulder, a persistent one she was.They’re fishing destination wasn’t very far just a small river not far from the free company’s estate, Sakura knew it well since she spent a few or more nights fishing it for food never caring for the meals the others would make she preferred fish most chalked it to being a miqote but no one could say she just was a very isolated creature, up till now that is, “Here’s good” Sakura said contently as she sat under a nice shady tree her eyes glued to the hyur who was tying a knot to her hook and trying to set the hook with bait. The knot was poor but it would work and the bait wasn’t ideal but it’d get the job done the one thing wrong was her cast but Sakura said nothing, it was obvious fishing wasn’t this girl’s ideal profession which made sense normally Bon asked herself to do the fishing but since she was hiding/sleeping Mal must of been the unlucky victim, after all Bon was a very lazy person and a lazy leader at that. As Sakura sat mulling over the thoughts in her head she was jolted back to reality from a huge SPALSH and water hitting her face as Mal let out a yell of terror or surprise one and landed in the water. Sakura gazed at the sight still slightly in the shock of being awoken from her deep thinking to see a fish flapping comically on Mal’s head, who was drenched head to toe in ankle deep water. The cat could not help it before she could stop herself she fell on her side laughing loudly at the poor human girl who was glaring, Mal went to throw the fish at Sakura “ITS NOT FUNNY!” but before she could the cat girl was gone “where did she- AH!” the fish fell off Mal’s head and back into the safety of the water as something helped Mal up and took her arm’s from behind. “Silly that’s no way to catch a fish..” the voice was gentle but clearly Sakura’s, another indication was the fact she felt a woman's chest pressed against her back, the intentions were pure this was clear but it was still a odd feeling from someone who acted so cold. “First off you cast like this..” Sakura’s hands glided down Mal’s arms to her hands grasping them gently guiding her each minute along the way of casting up till hooking the fish, this continued a few times before she finally let go. “There you go!” Sakura had a genuine smile, not realizing Mal saw otherwise she’d never allowed it but Mal said nothing just smiled back. “And for the record it was totally funny” she remarked a counter remark to the remark earlier. After getting a few more hauls they sat upon the bank to dry letting the fish sit on a rope in the water to keep them fresh. “So the stables.. why sleep there do you not have any family to stay with?” Mal finally asked sitting with her knees pulled to her chest, her chin resting on them as she hugged her legs, Sakura sitting by her likewise. Sakura thought it over for a moment before deciding to cave in this human deserved something she supposed. “No, least not anymore” she finally exclaimed calmly, though her eyes seemed to glass over as if getting lost in memory. “My mother passed after I was about ten” “My apologies... was she from around here?” Sakura’s head tilted but still rested on her knees as she looked at Malora. “Yes, she was a scholar, she lived in ul'dah but she had a small cottage she sometimes would stay at in Limsa but she originally came from Ala Mhigo” “And your father?” Sakura’s gaze drifted slightly but she continued “Lets see... My father I never truly knew mother always told me he came from the island nation  Thavnair, I never been myself but I’ve seen enough pictures and read enough books to know enough about the place, he was a merchant from what I was told, one eve he was selling elixirs and tonics in ul’dah and met a lovely miqote who stole his heart away and he her’s they never married something about business never allowing them to settle but that didn’t stop them from having a child. Mother always spoke fondly of my father and told me how one day we’d be a family and perhaps she truly meant it but I never minded it being just the two of us though she was often busy with her studies so I would often find comfort in books and tomes.” Her lips cracked a smile at the mention of books before it faded at the mention of the next part. “I did meet him though at age six.. My father... it was a hot day in the Ul’dah markets and there was a crowd of people I had lost my mother moment’s before in the crowd but curious I peeked through the crowd to see a human man lying in his own blood dead, of course.” her voice held no sadness but perhaps some resentment despite stating before she had not minded her father’s absence but no remorse, her eyes seemed distant and glossier than before. “Living in Ul’dah death wasn’t uncommon assassinations or deaths of gladiators or refugees taken by hunger or sickness you’d see these things.. even if you shouldn’t but this man before me wasn’t just anyone. I noticed his eyes were identical to mine and his features I shared a few.. before I could even react a hand had jerked me away from the sight it had been my mother. She clearly had been crying but she held a brave face for me, even held my face close to her breast and yet I can’t say I was sad... I had never known this man except for maybe a brief touch of my mother’s belly or a touch before I could remember him at all... and despite a few features we shared he looked nothing like me he was normal while I had ears, a tail, and fur... I would of liked to have known him I think..” her eyes became less glossy as sentiment now if only a little filled her voice “But I was never given a chance to so I could ultimately feel nothing...” She let out a sigh as she went on. “We were told by the brass blades it had been a unfortunate armed robbery, they eventually caught and trialed the thief but it was a hollow justice if anything, after my mother locked herself even more so away to her studies, her way of grieving I like to think, not that she neglected me any less she would check up on me more than often perhaps afraid of losing the last thing she had left... and she also gave me something the day of my father’s murder. A blue chocobo with a note tied around it’s neck. In said note was a letter from my father a gift, the chocobo’s name was Azura. Yes the very same you were petting earlier. Shes the only thing I have that was remotely close to the dad I never truly knew. My mother grew ill after I turned ten and passed away, she left everything to me but being so young it was given to the Immortal Flames to look after and myself and Azura were given as wards of the orphanage in Ul’dah.. for a time I was adopted shortly after around age twelve to a wealthy family who treated me like a princess.. not that I cared much for the luxurious life I always preferred my mother’s cottage by the sea as a child personally.” “They didn’t care about your.. appearance?” Mal clearly asked the question cautiously though it was fair answer. “No they were lalafell’s so I suppose they didn’t mind to much of my appearance though it isn’t often you find the wealthy so kind they truly were a rare sight. But yet.. they raised me up till my middle teens then I was sent to the guild of  thaumaturgy” she closed her eyes trying to hide a smile as Mal asked. “Why the mage’s guild?” “I might of set my butler on fire by accident.. just his shoe mind you but it was enough for concern. I personally thought it was funny.” she stiffled a giggle before opening her eyes. “Turns out I had a affinity for the dark arts so to control it I was sent there. And I spent the rest of my childhood there before leaving Ul’dah to  go to Gridania. The lalafells who raised me were kind but I never cared for the luxurious life I imagine they are living their high lifestyle still but I never went back after the incident of my butler and my possessions of my mother are still in Ul’dah mostly books, she left little gil, having mostly been funded by the city state and well that leaves me to now. My only family really is a traitorous horse bird.” she obviously was referring to earlier which made Mal giggle. “I’m sorry to hear that but you’d don’t have to sleep in a stable you know.” She leaned over kissing the miqote’s cheek gently, a kind gesture was all but it made the cat blush none the less. “I have a idea!” Malora jolted up with a eureka expression and gave a childish grin at Sakura. “From now on you will stay with me! AND NO BUTS MISSY!” she leaned forward pointing a finger at the miqote who was about to protest. “Azura can come too, I’m sure Elphie will enjoy company!” Mal winked and stuck her tongue out just a little to the side knowing she had won. “So much for leaving me alone” Sakura thought to herself but her lips betrayed her. She was smiling and for the first time she allowed herself to feel that persistent feeling she’d been feeling since meeting this hyur to flow over her. Perhaps... she had been lonely to long and it was time to have friends that didn’t scream Kweh!

Author’s Note No. 1 - Written for the Ripper ficathon for Malora (story requirements at the end).  This story is based off of events in The Dark Age  and works on the premise that Ethan, Giles and Deirdre didn’t part company immediately upon Randall’s death. It also takes place on holiday in the States because what I know and could easily research on England in the 70’s was too slim to support a story.
